Chrismukah in July!
Everyday at camp is a holiday of sorts, but on a chilly, misty Sunday afternoon in July what better way to celebrate than to have “Chrismukah”! The staff did a great job of decorating Forest Lodge in festive tidings complete with a Christmas tree and stockings for each cabin that were hung by the hearth. Various stations rimmed the Lodge floor where campers could have a snowball fight, make snowflakes or paper chains, decorate their own holiday cookies, string popcorn, make a Star of David, or play a dreidel game. Campers and staff drew names and then made a gift, wrapped it, and placed it under the tree for Santa to give to the lucky recipient. The Holiday Hydration Station was especially popular with hot chocolate and mini marshmallows. Members of the staff read an original story about the origin of Chanukah and also the traditional “Night Before Christmas” was recited. All in all, it was a cozy, creative, and fun way to spend an afternoon with our big Nicolet family. Happy Chrismukah!
