Nicolet Goes Organic!
Being at Camp Nicolet means having fun with summertime pals, soaking up sunshine and lots of vitamin D, exercising in the great outdoors, breathing clean air, walking through a cool forest, and frolicking in crystal clear spring-fed Franklin Lake. What a great way to be stress-free and healthy in mind, body, and spirit!
This summer Nicolet has added an additional element to the healthy benefits of coming to camp…organic fruit and salad bars at every meal! Working with local markets to buy non-GMO and organic produce and other products, we are striving to serve the highest and healthiest quality of food to our campers and staff. Chefs Paul and Dennis are doing a phenomenal job of cooking tasty meals and baking fresh breads and awesome desserts for our big camp family. The camp garden has been a wonderful educational project for campers and staff alike and the reward of eating some of the things that we’ve grown ourselves makes it even more fun! Of course, we still serve the all-time camp meal favorites such as grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup (always at the top of the survey list), Sunday dinner turkey or chicken, and of course, Chef Paul’s famous homemade pizza.
Our goal is to have each camper return home happy and healthy and more prepared to meet the challenges and demands of the coming school year. You might say that camp is a “recipe for success”!
