Nicolet – RAC Play Day
Sunday, July 20th was a day filled with lots of activity and excitement as the the men and boys from Red Arrow Camp joined the Nicolet ladies for a fun day of play on land and on the lake. Land activities included ultimate football, trampball, volleyball, and beach games. An All Camp Dip was enjoyed by all the campers as they bounced off of the Rave launcher, jumped off the swim rafts, and zoomed down the slides. A most delicious BBQ supper was prepared by our kitchen crew which was followed by a joint campfire in the Council Ring. Both camps took turns leading songs and a few entertaining games of friendly competition. Hula hoop passing and finding a gummy worm in a bowl of chocolate pudding were added to the mix. RAC’s “Famous Fred” led the closing tradition with the pop drinking song followed by “Big Campfire” for the boys and “Green Trees” for the Nicolet girls.
One of the much anticipated events of this particular day is the annual war canoe race featuring a camper team and a staff team from each camp. “WAR CANOOOE” was the most heard chant of late and both Nicolet teams put in a good effort despite a close loss to the RAC guys. The paddlers had fun and were good sports…which is what ultimately matters.
