Camp Nicolet’s tripping program, Northpoint Adventures, has had an exciting and successful summer season of trekking, rock climbing, paddling, hiking, and rafting with enthusiastic girls ready to do it all! Some of the basic skill-building trips included paddling in the nearby Sylvania Wilderness Area and backpacking in the Porcupine Mountains overlooking Lake Superior.  For those campers seeking a bit more challenging experience, the Pictured Rocks National Park provides that opportunity along with scenic campsites, sand dunes, lighthouses, and lakeshore hikes where remnants of old shipwrecks can be found. Learning rock climbing techniques under the professional instruction of Apex Adventures at Devil’s Lake in southern Wisconsin is also a challenging and empowering experience.

For our older campers wishing for a true wilderness adventure, the Isle Royale backpacking trip is the experience of a lifetime! Most campers wait a number of years and signup for the “training trips” in order to finally have their chance on the Isle. The Counselors In Training have an opportunity to participate on the beautiful Voyageur Canoe Trip that flows through the Boundary Waters near the Canadian wilderness. Our NP1 SPOT satellite system tracks the GPS location of all of the trip groups and keeps us informed of their wherabouts at all times. Thanks to Northpoint’s well qualified , experienced and enthusiastic trip leaders and to our 2015 NP Director, Katie Singleton, this summer’s adventures have been fun, safe, and a true growing experience for all participants. You all rock!
