Session III ’14 Highlights
Remembering all of the good times and jam-packed action filled days during Session III makes us want to begin counting the days until the first day of the 2015 camp season! The last four weeks of camp are especially filled with traditional events such as Marathon Green/Buff Day, the all-camp tennis tournament and horse show, the entertaining staff talent show, the camper-staff water ski show, candlelight vespers, final campfire, and the big drama production of the summer…just to name a few things!
Nicolet’s camping/tripping program, Northpoint Adventures, also had a busy schedule of amazing trips. Backpacking to the Porcupine Mountains and canoeing the beautiful lakes of the Sylvania Wilderness Area introduced campers 6th grade and older to nearby wilderness opportunities. The older campers explored challenging trails and hidden treasures while backpacking the jewel of Superior – Isle Royale. The ultimate NP adventure of 2014 was the inaugural Rocky Mountain backpacking trip with trip leaders, Jeremy Starz and Katie Singleton.
A summer at Nicolet is an amazing opportunity for campers to gain competence, courage and independence; make new friends; have memorable adventures; and most of all have a carefree summer of fun!
Staff and camper soccer players give their best effort during the annual Cookie Cup on one of the final evenings of camp.
This summer a grand fireworks display was added to the traditional burning of the “N” in celebration of Camp Nicolet’s 70th Anniversary season.
The Doubles Teams competed for the grand title at the 2014 Nicolet Tennis Tournament.
And what would the staff talent show be without the traditional Australian bobsled team?
Kudos to Nicolet’s 2014 Water Ski and Wakeboard Team that took top honors at the annual Kawaga Ski Tournament in August.
The annual camper-staff water ski show during the final week is a great chance to show off all the skills and teamwork gained throughout the summer.
Northpoint Adventures embarked upon the inaugural Rocky Mountain backpacking trip this summer. A great challenge and memorable experience!
Jessica Sternberg is one of the campers who enthusiastically participated in the competitive water ski elective. Congrats to all of our Nicolet jumpers!
Nicolet riders participated in the annual in-camp horseshow. Events included beginning and advanced equitation, and jumping classes.
The Little Theater Players presented an entertaining version of Disney’s “101 Dalmatians” during the final week of Session III.
