Camp Nicolet

Session III Has Hit the Ground Running!

Despite a few chilly days to start, the first week of Session III has been a busy one. After greeting all the new arrivals on the camp bus, cabin introductions in Forest Lodge were as entertaining as ever. The Isle Royale backpackers led by Jeremy and Katie departed Monday morning for their seven-day adventure on the Isle. A fun Camp Sister party, week 5 cabin cookouts with tinfoil dinners, a waterfront afternoon and campfire with Camp Deerhorn for West End campers, an East End optional overnight on Tiger’s Tail, and getting into a routine with regular activities and electives made this week fly.

Slap bang...let's hear it for Session III!

The big Saturday event was a play day with Red Arrow Camp. The first activity involving all campers and staff was a build-a-boat contest. Nine teams were given a super hero theme, two rolls of duct tape, and sheets of cardboard. Using creativity and a bit of engineering, each team had to build a boat  that would hopefully float while a camper paddled it between two docks. Points were given to teams based upon design, presentation, and also upon the results of the race. The camper and staff war canoe races were the highly anticipated highlight of the afternoon. Despite wind and waves, the Nicolet Ladies certainly gave it their best effort, but were once again nudged out of winning by the RAC teams. All in good fun, everyone enjoyed the hype and excitement. A yummy BBQ supper and traditional campfire rounded out a jammed-packed day.
