Summer 2020 Hiring Updates

Summer 2020 Hiring News

We’re heading toward a full house for summer 2020 at Camp Nicolet, with enrollments running slightly ahead of last year. We are also happy to say that we’ve nearly completed our hiring for this coming summer, with many counselors returning from previous summers and some new faces hailing from as far away as South Africa!

If you or a friend might still be making plans for your summer, consider contacting us now for one of the few positions left for summer 2020 … because we are actively interviewing and they are going, going, and soon will be gone.

We have 4 Cabin Counselor/Instructor positions still available, and are especially interested in individuals with skills and interests in the areas of:
• Water Skiing
• Horseback Riding
• Archery
• Smallcraft/Sailing
• Tennis
• Northpoint Adventures

We also have 2 Kitchen Assistant positions still available for salad bar preparation, dish washing, and dining hall clean-up.

And, finally, we are looking for a few good people with nursing or other health care backgrounds to fill in at Patches for some short sessions mid-summer.

As always, we’re happy to work with colleges around their specific internship requirements in order to help our college-age employees earn credit for their time at camp. Many of our summer staff are finding internships more and more appealing because so many college programs are adding internships to degree requirements.

You may be thinking, “But what about the coronavirus?” At Camp Nicolet we’re reading up on all the precautions and staying safe, of course (no more hugs or high fives — we’ve transitioned to elbow bumps!) — and we’re also feeling optimistic about our summer season going ahead as planned.

Here in the Northwoods, we are far away from population centers and, because our program doesn’t start until mid-June, we have quite a bit of time yet for the infection peak to pass. We will stay in good communication with families and adjust plans as needed or directed by government agencies, but right now, we’re planning on a strong summer.

Thanks for your continuing support of Camp Nicolet and Northpoint Adventures.

Mary Anna Thornton, Camp Director
