Car Arrivals & Pick-Ups

Personal Vehicle — First Day and Last Day

Arrival day is fun and exciting! Please drop your camper off between 1:00 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. on the first day of her session.  Please contact us if you require an early or late drop-off or pick-up.  We’ll work to accommodate your family’s schedule as best we can.

Upon arrival at camp, please follow the signs and proceed to Forest Lodge. At the Lodge you’re greeted by our friendly Staff, and campers proceed through check-in stations. Parents may accompany campers through the stations, and may accompany them to their cabin to drop off luggage.  The camp bus typically arrives at 2:45 to 3:00 p.m., and we recommend returning to the Lodge to greet campers excitedly arriving by bus!

On the day a session concludes, please plan to arrive no later than 10:00 a.m. to pick up your camper.  The camp bus departs at 8:15 a.m., and intersession campers (those staying for more than one session) depart for a special trip at 10:30 a.m.

On pick-up day, you may proceed directly to your camper’s cabin to load up her belongings. Allow time to let your camper give you a tour of camp and tell you all about her summer experience. She will most likely have much to tell you!

Chartered Camp Bus

Chartered Bus

We are delighted to offer a convenient and comfortable chartered coach bus service to and from Camp Nicolet for our traditional length sessions. This service is available at the start and end of Session I (Three Weeks), Session II (Four Weeks), and the Full Summer (Seven Weeks), providing a safe and supervised transportation option for your camper. Our modern coach buses, professionally operated by Lamers Bus Lines of Green Bay, Wisconsin, feature comfortable seating and onboard restrooms, ensuring a pleasant journey for all.

For families utilizing our flexible attendance options, including Session I Flex (Two Weeks), Session II Flex (Two or Three Weeks), and Full Summer Flex (Five or Six Weeks), we also offer bus service to Camp Nicolet at the beginning of these sessions. Please note that for these shorter sessions, parent pick-up from camp by car is required as there is no return bus service to Milwaukee or Chicago. The same comfortable and safe transportation to camp is provided, ensuring your camper arrives ready for their exciting Nicolet adventure.

Whether your camper is joining us for a traditional or flex session, the bus journey is designed to be enjoyable. Nicolet staff members accompany all bus trips, prioritizing camper safety and comfort throughout the ride. The trip to camp includes a fun lunch stop at McDonalds, while the return journey features a picnic lunch provided by camp to be enjoyed onboard. Plus, riding the bus offers a wonderful opportunity for campers to meet new friends and build anticipation for their time at Camp Nicolet, where a warm and enthusiastic welcome awaits!

To ensure a seamless start and end to your camper’s adventure, we kindly ask that families take responsibility for arranging transportation between our convenient bus pickup locations and the Chicago or Milwaukee airports. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have questions as you make these travel plans!

Airport Shuttle

Flying & Airport Shuttles

We’re happy to offer convenient shuttle service to and from the Rhinelander-Oneida County Airport (RHI), Central Wisconsin Airport (CWA), and Iron Mountain airport (IMT) to make your camper’s journey as smooth as possible! Once you’ve booked your daughter’s flight, please share the details with us by updating the Residential Travel Form in your MY CAMP ACCOUNT. For campers flying as “unaccompanied minors,” we’ll ensure a seamless transition – just give our friendly office a call a week before her flight, and we’ll provide you with the name and number of the Staff member meeting her. To help our Staff easily spot your camper, we encourage her to wear her Camp Nicolet uniform shirt if possible.

Upon arrival, your daughter is warmly greeted just outside security by a Camp Nicolet Staff member and driver, who are wearing their recognizable green Camp Nicolet Staff shirts. Having a current photo of your camper in our system (which is part of the online Camper Application) is a wonderful way for our Staff to ensure a cheerful and accurate greeting! We also encourage campers to use their devices to let you know they’ve arrived safely with our team and are on their way to camp. We can’t wait to welcome her!

Transportation Safety

Safety

We want every camper’s travel experience with us to be as positive and worry-free as possible! To help us achieve this on our camp buses and airport shuttles, we’ve put together some helpful safety guidelines. We appreciate you taking a moment to review these with your camper so we can all enjoy a safe and happy trip to and from Camp Nicolet.

  • To help us ensure a safe and organized boarding process at bus pick-up locations, which are public meeting areas, we kindly ask that campers stay with their parents until it’s time to hop on the bus. We want to make sure your camper’s Camp Nicolet experience begins wonderfully the moment they board and are greeted by our friendly Staff.

  • Campers & Staff will stay with their airport shuttle group & driver at all times.

  • Campers & Staff will choose and remain in their seats the entire duration of the trip to camp, except for bathroom breaks and lunch stop if riding the bus.

  • The use of seatbelts is required in vehicles which are equipped. This is an American Camp Association standard and Camp Nicolet policy.
  • We ask everyone is respectful of bus & shuttle chaperones, and use an “inside voice” so drivers may concentrate on the road.

Camper Luggage

Baggage

For added convenience as you prepare for camp, you have the option to ship your camper’s belongings directly to us at Camp Nicolet via UPS or FedEx. To help us get everything organized before camp begins, please aim for luggage to arrive no later than one week before your camper’s session begins.

If you would like her baggage shipped home following camp, please provide return shipping labels for each item.

We want to make your camper’s travel as smooth as possible, so luggage can easily travel with them on our camp buses and airport shuttles! For bus riders, we kindly request that luggage be limited to two large soft-sided duffels or suitcases, along with one carry-on backpack. There is no extra charge for this, and we do ask all luggage be clearly labeled with your camper’s first and last name. For campers flying, please keep in mind that airlines will have their own baggage fees at check-in, especially for the trip home. To offer a helping hand, these baggage fees can be billed to your camper’s Canteen (camp store) account if another payment method isn’t readily available, with the account balance settled at the end of the summer season in August.

Testimonials

My 9 years at Camp Nicolet are some of the highlights of my life.  I think of my time on Lake Franklin, laughing, singing, learning new skills, and making lifelong friends. The memories are a source of pure joy and happiness buffering the inevitable challenges of life!

Camp means more to me that you will ever know. My best friends/sisters are the most important people in my life. I am forever grateful to you for providing me (and my mom!) with nine wonderful summers. I would not be who I am today without Nicolet.

Everyone was so kind and attentive. I enjoyed getting the letters and seeing the excitement in our daughters handwriting. She survived without her phone! We have camp as a reference now, as we remind her of how much she accomplished without devices or streaming media

Parent of Camper

Camp Nicolet is a tremendous gift, not just for our daughter, but for our whole family. It’s always nice to remind our daughter that her favorite time of year is the one month she doesn’t have a phone in her hands. Camp is a huge part of who our daughter is – for that we are thankful.

Parent of Camper
One day, I will return to gather Nicolet up into my arms. One does not forget, ever, being so very lucky to have grown up with such a friend as Nicolet. I treasure it always.

Because of camp, I have been able to meet so many different people with all different backgrounds. Camp is just a magical place where girls from all over come to be girls, and I can honestly say there has not been a day at camp out of all my years that I did not feel like I had best friends who really cared for me.

Alumni
Our daughter would not be the strong, confident person she is today without the experiences she had at Camp Nicolet. Thank you a thousand times over!
Parent of Camper

The fact that you are able to slow these girls down, detach them from their electronics, and show them all that Nicolet has to offer is amazing to me and very lucky for them. You have not only kept the very special legacy of Nicolet going, but you have added to and changed camp in such a way that you have kept it relevant to this next generation. Thank you for that.

Cannot begin to thank you enough for giving my daughter a chance to have the most amazing summer of her young life. she thoroughly enjoyed her time at camp, made so many nice friends, and had so many wonderful experiences (including the backpacking trip along Lake Superior) that she can’t stop talking about it.

Parent of Camper

As a preteen who struggled to find her place in school— I absolutely flourished at camp and was forever changed. Camp Nicolet helped me discover who I was and how powerful one girl could become.
