Creating Sunshine

Dear Nicolet Family and Friends,

2020 is a year to be remembered – and perhaps not in the best of ways.  Many things we have always taken for granted are missing, but hopefully are replaced by renewed family time, supporting one another, increased creativity, and a much greater appreciation for things we have rather than focusing on what’s missing.  As they say, “gratitude is an attitude!”

At Nicolet, we sense the demand for camp is greater than ever!  The outdoor and social experiences are proving invaluable and we’re grateful so many alumni and families recently stepped forward, offering support and allegiance during a year with no tuition revenue.

Registration is open since October 1st, and families affected by the pandemic are requesting financial aid for 2021; the Camp Nicolet Foundation has already awarded over $12,000 in camperships!  We appreciate numerous camp families optimistically “rolled over” 2020 tuition payments towards next summer, however, that leaves us with an immediate $100,000 budget deficit for the 2021 operating season.  Another unique challenge we face, thanks to COVID-19.

This financial circumstance inspires Nicolet’s Race to 100k campaign, launched recently.  We are beyond grateful that $40,600 has already been raised.  Nicolet alumna Karen Stone Kaplan offers a matching gift of $2,500 if we, together, raise this amount by the end of December.  We CAN do this!  Here are ways you can direct your gift, as we race to raise $100,000 this winter:

  • Mail a check – payable to the Camp Nicolet Foundation – to PO Box 1359, Eagle River, WI 54521.
  • To use a credit card, CLICK HERE.  Or donate on our website, www.campnicolet.com where the DONATE link takes you directly to the CN Foundation PayPal Giving Fund.  As a registered charity, the Foundation receives 100% of your gift.  PayPal is simply the platform.

Tax-deductible donations made through the Camp Nicolet Foundation include gifts to:

The Ann and Wendall Schrader Campership Fund

Make it financially accessible for a camper to attend Nicolet this summer.  This fund is named in honor of Nicolet Founders, Ann and Wendall Schrader.

The Christopher Starz Leadership Memorial Fund

Make it financially accessible for a camper to participate in a Northpoint Adventures wilderness trip experience.  This fund is named in memory of Christopher Starz, Northpoint programs co-founder.  While Camp Nicolet is offering select wilderness backcountry trips this summer, campers must be enrolled in the Six Week – Full Summer program, in limiting the introduction of COVID-19 into the camp community.

The General Mission

Make an unrestricted donation to the Camp Nicolet Foundation.  Donations bolster Campership funds, help with program needs, or contribute to sustainable operation.

Spirit of Nicolet Society

A one-time gift of $1,000 towards any Foundation fund or initiative recognizes you as a member of the Spirit of Nicolet Society.  You receive a commemorative, high-quality blanket from camp as a “thank you.”

Use AmazonSmile or iGive for online shopping and designate the Camp Nicolet Foundation as your preferred charity.

And finally… camp means fun!

As a coordinated effort with enthusiastic alumni, we are introducing a few entertaining fundraisers and activities later this winter (think virtual Marathon Day, Heart Friends, and more).  Be prepared to reconnect with camp friends, have some fun, and get some virtual “sand [back] in your shoes.”

I hope this finds you and your family healthy, safe, and looking forward to the Holidays.  Here at camp we continue to work, preparing and planning for safe and happy summer ahead – and your donation helps.  While we hire staff, talk with families, and strategize with other camp owners and directors about COVID-19 protocol, your donation – no matter how small or large – helps us stay in operation.  ANY amount contributes to making summer 2021 the best one yet for campers
and staff!

“One day, I will return to gather Nicolet up into my arms. One does not forget, ever, being so very lucky to have grown up with such a friend as Nicolet. I treasure it always.”
