Summer 2021 – 10.1.2020

Dear Camp Nicolet Families, Friends, and Staff –

Jeremy here from the beautiful North Woods, where the leaves have reached their peak colors and trees are ablaze with reds, oranges, and yellows.  Most beautiful is the reflection of these colors in the still waters of Franklin Lake.  Each morning, with cooling overnight temps, mist rises from the lake.  Mixed with the colorful trees reflecting in the calm water, all of this is truly an Autumn sight to behold!

The seasons are changing, and naturally we’re thrilled to be looking ahead to 2021!

A short update from me today – but a big update nonetheless – our finalized program calendar is available on the Sessions & Rates page of the website.  When you’re done here, head on over and take a look.  With 2020 family refunds now complete, we’re excited to move forward and we remain confident in the quality programs & quality experiences to be offered by a quality team next summer at camp.  We’re grateful to all who supported camp this year; including Family Camp participants, generous Alumni donations, and the tremendous team at mBank in Eagle River who issued us a sizable Commercial Loan, allowing the Camp Nicolet legacy to carry on.  From the bottom of our hearts; we’re grateful to you all!

You’ll notice a program change, even since I posted tentative 2021 dates a few weeks ago.  Rest assured this change has roots in Camp Nicolet tradition (long before multiple session options became the norm circa 1988) and is now relevant to the times in which we live.  In continued interest of the health & safety of our Camp Community during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Camp Nicolet plans to offer one six week session during summer 2021.  With this, we can establish now a firm operations & staffing plan, allow for adequate pre-summer quarantine, monitor & periodically test campers and staff for COVID-19, and work to prevent the possible introduction of the virus into camp during the summer season by limiting variables associated with routine operation.  We realize the “six week bubble format” might not fit all summer schedules and family needs.  For this we apologize – however, we feel this is the best option for the camp organization and consistency with our families & staff for the summer ahead.  If you have questions or would like to talk more, please reach out to me at 608.469.3091 or jstarz@campnicolet.com.

Lots of excitement is in store for next summer: limited Northpoint Adventures backcountry trips, traditional events you know and love like the 4th of July Celebration, Marathon Day, the Nicolet Olympics, Cookie Cup, Ski Show, Staff Talent Show, Capture the Flag, the Camp Play (Moana Jr.) and so much more!!  By being at camp for all six weeks, you’re guaranteed not to miss a thing!  If you think six weeks is a long time; trust us – it goes by in the blink of an eye.  Now more than ever, we encourage you to consider this option as opposed to a second summer “around the house.”

As I said in my last post, there are so many successes to celebrate in 2020, and there is so much to which to look forward in 2021.  We are excited to see you back on the shores of Franklin Lake – and before long, the colorful leaves will give way to snow-covered branches, then giving way to budding trees and eventually summertime!  And we’ll be together again!  #strongerCN21

Thinking sunshine,
Jeremy
